More guns than the first game,better story and characters and more depth to the characters skill tree. Plus the game has one of the best villains ever Handsome Jack.

Iconic game I played with the lads, a few different group of lads.

Diablo turned shooter. Not my cup but I know lots of people who got just as addicted as the summary implies.

Guns feel like shit, humour is obnoxious; randomness at its worst in all its forms.

A bit tedious gameplay at times, but good story. Was first to solve a math problem in the game.

A step down from the original, if you can believe that. It has quite possibly the worst antagonist in video game history, some other downright insulting characters, and while the story is better, that only calls into contrast the forced, unearned "attitude" this game thinks is cool. Even the gameplay is a tad worse. Not because of the mechanics but because the enemies are just bullet-sponges who don't react to your fire at all. Maybe if 3 ever comes out they will finally get everything right.

In an age where couch co-op is almost entirely forgotten, BL2 might be the best one ever.

Claptrap wouldn't stfu so I tried shooting it with my gun. It didn't work.

As the game's cover alludes to, this is more of the same, and if you're like me and really dug Borderlands 1, you're going to dig the sequel. That said, "new characters" is false advertising (they're just the same archetypes, minus the DLC), Badass ranks have inescapable gameplay problems, and while the story is definitely bigger and (probably) better, I can't say that I'm 100% sold on it. I'm still pretty hyped for BL3 and I definitely enjoy every chance I get to play this. Just like 1 better.

An expansion on the first game in every way, and yet the compulsion to do more chore-based missions had lost its charm. I think this franchise should try to reinvent itself before it produces anything else.

Great fps with unique style.

I love the mix of FPS, humor, and RPG in the Borderlands series. This game ups the ante on the first entry, with more customization of the characters, a much more memorable villain (Handsome Jack is awesome), and some actual dramatic moments that made me fucking cry. It's not perfect. Of course not. But overall, this game is hella a lot of fun, and even better with multiplayer.

I'm not a big fan of the story, but it at least feels a lot more solid than the first. It's mostly more of the same, but I like it.

Not a ton of new offers from the first, but its such a great aesthetically pleasing setup that you can still have a lot of fun.

Grab a friend (or 3) and worship Claptrap. There's enough depth to the leveling that it's interesting though I hope for BL3 they go deeper with it, and I also wish they would have more action set pieces just to make the combat a little more exciting, but I love Borderlands. I love the humour, the way it's basically Diablo with guns, the art style, and I love how it has had co-op from the beginning. Definitely play with someone.

I know the enemies are ridiculous bullet sponges, drop rates on interesting guns are abysmal, and half the script makes me cringe, but playing this with friends was still such a blast. There's such an intangible fun factor for me that kind of overrides all of its flaws.
