Cards Against Humanity

Cards Against Humanity

2009
Card game, Party
Play begins with a judge, known as the "Card Czar", choosing a black question or fill-in-the-blank card from the top of the deck and showing it to all players. Each player holds a hand of ten white answer cards at the beginning of each round, and passes a card (sometimes two) to the Card Czar, face-down, representing their answer to the question on the card. The card czar determines which answer card(s) are funniest in the context of the question or fill-in-the-blank card.

A love-it-or-hate-it game. I'm scoring it more for what the experience of playing it with the right people can be rather than what it usually is. YMMV, obviously.

Of all the ways to make family gatherings uncomfortable, this is definitely the most fun.

I guess you CAN play this with your family...but think about all those future awkward sit downs at dinner. Will you ever be able to look your mom in the eye again after she played the Big Black Dick card?

The amount of fun you have with it, really depends on who you play it with, There's always those assholes who thinks this game is just an acceptable way to make as many racist, homophobic, sexist etc, jokes as possible, which was not the original point of this game. Bring this to Christmas dinner, and find out which of your aunts are racist!

Cringe right down to my ballsack anytime this gets pulled out; if you want me to make shocking politically incorrect jokes I can bust out ten a minute, no need to bother with cards to help out

Dirty words are fun aren't they? Aren't they? AREN'T THEY? Seriously, what does this game have apart from being a dirty-word simulator?

I have never seen a game that can be played with anyone and have such different results. It's replayable and has a huge amount of expansions so as to not get stale answers. It's almost as much fun as watching the company itself fuck with people constantly.

It was fun for about a year before someone bringing a deck to a social event provoked an internal eye-roll, by that point it was more interesting to play against expectations of the filthiest joke possible.

Very little depth, but it's an okay time sinker with others around. How funny and enjoyable it is depends on RNG elements. Sometimes you'll never get a laugh out of the game, other times it's utterly hilarious.

It'll be entertaining for a couple games then the formula loses all shock value and it gets waaaaay less funny. Like to the point where the only funny bits and bits that shock are jokes that would be possible in any game like this, even a kids version, so this edgy adult version kinda becomes worthless. But you still had a couple fun games with it so thats something.

Really depends on having specific type of humour and crowd to go with.

Dirty Apples to Apples. Can range from boring to slightly amusing depending on the people involved.

Great game, but it relies on its shock factor to be really fun.

The best NSFW party game I've ever played. But CAH, like with ANY game is only as fun as the group you are play with. Don't play with your family. Don't play with your boss. Don't listen to the negative reviews here.

Brain dead game. Just have a couple of cards and put 1 card in there. What makes this bad is that majority of the cards don't go along with the question, so you are just guessing who's who and it's not fun.

Apples to Apples with dirty words. The premise wasn't terribly revolutionary, but still something the market definitely lacked. Crude premise and shock value aside, this really opened up the idea matching genre outside the realm of g-rated bible camp games like AtA. We owe CAH for Dixit and Say Anything.
