Dr. Mario

Going over to a grandparent's house, freaking out that they have a NES system hooked up. They only have this or Tetris.

Mildly interesting variation on Tetris, but it lacks that game's simple elegance, and the novelty wore off quickly.

The commercial for this game shamelessly featured the Witch Doctor song sung by a Witch Doctor shrinking a grown man's head, and a cartoon Mario Doctor appearing in the flames of a seance. This has nothing to do with the game, of course. Except for perhaps combining the pharmaceutical industry with shamanism, which is the kind of advertising we need right now.

I can beat level 23 on low speed, level 20 on medium speed, and on high speed I can cry in anger.

This was all we played at my cousin's house. Just Doc Mario, top ramen and Ernest films, as far as the eye could see...

A plumber moonlighting as a doctor might sound like a bad idea, but you can't argue with the results.

It has a good central mechanic, but does very little to build on that, mostly just getting faster as the levels go up. Once you've learned the basic strategy, there isn't much left to sink your teeth into. Fun to play for a quick burst, but if I had gotten it as an NES cartridge for Christmas, I would've been disappointed.

It's just worse Tetris but it's still executed well enough that it's good fun. I'll boot it up on my switch's nes emulator from time to time.

good puzzle game. Match pills as the levels get insanely hard.
