The visual design and atmosphere is phenomenal with rather intricate schedules made for the NPC's. While these elements are engaging, the time mechanic makes conventional Zelda elements such as finishing dungeons and item management tedious and aggravating when they shouldn't be. The sidequests are also mostly boring and things like the races are fucking painful to play through. On the other hand, the game boasts more interesting dungeon design than OOT and I dig its risks, so I can't hate it.

A flawed masterpiece. I loved that they took risks with the Zelda formula and still delivered a great game, but it's much shorter than other Zeldas and bogged down by too many unnecessary sidequests.

One of the worst Zeldas because of the three-day time limit. The sidequests are also too obtuse, though I wish other Zelda games had sidequests with similar detail and importance.

As a, basically, direct sequel to Ocarina of Time, I failed to see any of the charm of that first game in this one. I owned it, and bought a Rumble pack to play it, but ended up not even finishing it.

I certainly love Zelda and the Zelda aesthetic and Zelda dungeons, though I have to admit that the timed three-day system is a real damn bee in my bonnet with this game. It makes whole the experience kind of stressful and annoying.

My personal favorite Zelda game. I absolutely adore the darker tone, the stripped-down dungeon design, and focus on characters. I do admit that it isn't quite as well-polished as most other entries but the new direction this went makes it stand out. Majora's Mask makes me feel something, which is more than I can say for any other mainline Zelda title.

Ocarina of Time but with a new series of bizarre, but fun abilities imparted by masks. The time mechanic created a pressure that I didn't always enjoy. Had many interesting ideas such as NPCs following schedules throughout the day, a bit ahead of its time. In general, felt a little half-baked, but still made for an excellent adventure game.

Majora's Mask is a staggeringly well made follow up. Especially considering the limited time it had to be created. The game is dripping with atmosphere and the time travel aspects are inspired. The only issue is that it is far to difficult for those just getting started with it.
