The basic story elements unfold as the protagonist, Tim, attempts to rescue a princess from a monster. Text passages laid throughout the game reveal a multifaceted narrative, giving clues about Tim's contemplations and motivations. The game features traditional aspects of the platform genre while integrating various powers of time-manipulation. Using these abilities, the player progresses by finding and assembling jigsaw puzzle pieces. (Wikipedia)

Not bad and the ability to rewind time was a novel mechanic, but I wasn't much of a fan of the art style, nor the preachy narrative.

exceptional puzzle design but somewhat irritating and pretentious due to the game pretending its lame story about a man saving a princess is a metaphor for multiple things at once. still enjoyable overall.

I know there are people who will look at this now and say it's overrated because it got so much love, but it's really not. The choices were for the soundtrack were incredible, the graphics were vibrant, the puzzles were intelligent without being obtuse and too difficult (which is good for me because dumb), and the story is a nice play on familiar tropes. Plus, THAT ending is brilliant and fits in so well with the mechanics.

A revelation when it first came out. One of the first arthouse games to become wildly successful, but since it's release there's been other games that have attempted to cover the same ground with more success. Brilliant art design and puzzle elements, terrible story.

A solid return to form for platformers but it still leaves a lot left on the table in terms of potential levels and mechanical interactions. It's story was also kind of lost on me because the multiple layers of metaphor often get confused and a shocking ending doesn't make up for a complete lack of story beforehand outside of novels worth of on-screen text.

Good concepts, awfully bad looking and frustrating.

Overrated, but it's okay I guess. The developer's a prick with an ego the size of the fucking moon so this game loses 10 points out of raw spite.

The time manipulation mechanic is neat but little else is that memorable.
