One of the games that truly obsessed me from top to bottom, I was even into the Geocities fansite/fan art/fanfiction/MIDI scene for this game, I was so deep into the lore and world and every character. All that nostalgia aside, it's just a pinnacle JRPG, the time travel mechanic driving along such an enchanting story and cast of characters, even the battle system feeling kinetic and livened up from previous JRPGs. I just loved and continue to absolutely love this game.

A revelation in RPGs. It really does nothing poorly. Memorable characters, music, story, and settings. Even the battles were more interactive than the typical JRPs we were used to. As many times as I've beat it I still don't think I've seen every ending.

It handled time travel in an intelligent way with lots of secrets to find, the characters are memorable (even Chrono despite not saying anything), the battle system did unique things with the turn-based mechanic, the plot is intriguing, the soundtrack is top notch and the graphics are still beautiful. The game is so snappy and respects the player's time, and there are little intricacies I've noticed in a replay that I didn't notice when I played it as a kid.

This is the "My Neighbor Totoro" of gaming. It's comfortable, familiar, and has universal appeal. There's very little to point to and say is done poorly. That said, while I enjoyed the game it wasn't full of WOW as I expected from all the hype. I'm also not enamored with the Toriyama style so perhaps that put me off a bit.

Severely overrated. At the time of release I accept that it could have been pretty good, but right now it's a boring unimpressive game. Except for the initial court scene, that was fun.

This didn't live up to its reputation for me - it has a decent enough plot and some nice audio and visuals with a battle system with some interesting touches, but, especially towards the end, it began to feel a bit of a slog. The most interesting parts - actions during time travel affecting the game world and multiple endings - are mostly kept obscure, and I wouldn't have known of some of the possibilities if I hadn't searched for game information. A fun romp, but not this period's best RPG.

Chrono's a dumb ass motherfucker for going for Marle when Lucca is RIGHT THERE. That being said, the definitive RPG, in my honest opinion. Great party interactions and strong, interesting gameplay with a powerful story and science-fantasy setting. More games really need to have both magic and magic-powered ray guns in them.

It's beyond classic. It's must-play. Few stories ever do time travel well, and this one focuses heavily on consequences as the timestream is meddled with. The cast of six (seven?) characters is also pretty well-defined. But really, the gameplay is smooth, the challenge ever-present, with so many world maps to explore. It's a masterpiece.

One of the quintessential old-school RPG classics. An enrapturing story combined with a deep RPG base and fun, real-time controls made Chrono Trigger a real juggernaut in its genre.

I know that this game is fantastic, but I never finished it. I never actually owned this game, and always had to play it at a friend's house.

Short but sweet game that does some cool shit with positioning and the triple/duo tech system. The way the games limits your healing abilities forces you to make considerate decisions on how to sustain yourself and stuff like turn manipulation is really cool. The writing is pretty basic ass shit and the way they implemented certain scenes was lame (such as the trial), but it maintains interest because of the concept and world it utilizes is really cool with a lot of engaging endings to obtain.

mostly nonsense across the board, from the vapid characters to the pointlessly convoluted story to the mindlessly easy battle system. and yet i wouldn't say it was bad. i found it vaguely enjoyable at times. i was just expecting a lot more than a children's toy.
