It feels like being in a true western (except those towns are weirdly small) and there is this strange idea that most of the gameplay must feel like a chore (you must brush, feed, and take care of your horse), but somehow it adds to the gritty realism.

Great Western game. Fantastic voice acting and plot. I don’t really like the GTA model tho and the camp starts to make things feel way too repetitive. But it’s a great entertaining game… A-

Story in this game is good. Gameplay is really terrible. The game is too long. 60 hours when they could have made this 10 hours or lesser. They added realistic elements, such as the horse getting tired & throwing you off his back. There are fake elements in this like whistle from anywhere & your horse will hear that even if he's very far away. Missions could have been way lesser for each chapter. Aiming at enemies is terrible as they take 4-5 gun shots to be killed.

Wow what a great game! Anyone who likes the wild west setting, cowboys, outlaws and revolvers this is the game for you. It has a slow gameplay and a lot of survival elements so be ready for that.

It's a great technical achievement, but it's boring writing with boring gameplay.

There has never been an open world as well designed and realized as Red Dead 2's. The game suffers a bit from some under cooked mechanics, but that hardly effected my overall enjoyment of it.

I hate Red Ded Redemption 2 with a passion. I thought I had learned from playing GTAV that Rockstar don't make fun single-player experiences, but the game lured me in with its gorgeous graphics, beautiful soundtrack and what I initially thought to be strong writing. The monotonous gameplay-loop didn't quite show its true colours until I was way past the refund window, so in defiance I decided to push through to the end since I spent 60 bucks on it. I still want my money back.

This is a rockstar game, which means you're not here for the plot or the missions, which once again mostly feel clichéd and rigid as a rail shooter. Go there, do that, shoot stuff. But no, you're here to soak up its uncompromising open world (re)creation of the wild west, and boy does it deliver! It can be described in all sorts of affectionate terms, but you still might not fully grasp just how intricate everything looks, sounds and feels. So yeah, just play it yourself, i guess.

There has never been anything close to this open world experience in gaming. The design and detail in its nature and animal life makes this world come alive. The writing of great characters and the way you interact with them adds to that same feeling. And then there's the story as well, which isn't just incredible on its own but also manages to improve the experience of replaying its predecessor. Quite simply the best game ever made.

Clearly created with love and interest for its setting, it looks great and, like all Rockstar offerings, has great writing, characters and acting. The world is sprawling and expansive, with huge amounts to do, but, ultimately, I found myself disinterested in doing most of it, and just wanted to move from one scene to another. The story pacing is also kind of sub-optimal, with the beginning not really doing all it can to draw you in, and the epilogues could've been shorter to maintain momentum.

The last few chapters of the game are significantly more interesting than the earlier ones. Before those, it was a lot of the same repetitive type of missions and not a lot of progression. The game is too long, like all to many games today, but it ends fantastically, and is just overall a really enjoyable experience. Now to move on and get to the million games I got behind on while playing this.

If they had kept the Mexican regions open and populated them + New Austin with actual content - didn't have to be as much as the new areas, but enough to not feel like a giant ghost town - this would be another perfect game.

The attention to detail in this game is apparent from the opening scene to the story's end but Red Dead 2 has one massive flaw: it has no soul. The original weaves themes of the old west's myths and legends into each character and story beat, elevating it to be more than just a shoot-em-up cowboy game. This is a story where the character fates are known, the ending is known, and as a result, is ultimately unnecessary. Red Dead 2 is fine but the original is infinitely more interesting.

I was 100% on board, then there was a definitive point where I really fell out of love with the game and found it a chore to finish. Without spoiling anything, at the time of Guarma it became apparent that pacing and structure were of no concern to the otherwise excellent writers. Moment to moment and character writing is phenomenal but the storyline is stretched out to be as long as possible and the themes stop resonating as they are reiterated over and over. Needed serious editing.

Characters and story take the game to the next level and made it easier to look past some of the game play negatives.

25 hours in has me like 14 percent of the way through the story. I have spent hours just hunting and fishing. It feels great, the main and supporting characters are likable and well acted and the side stories and random encounters are great. You really can't go wrong here.

Great graphics, a pretty good story with some excellent moments and a beautiful open world. This does however fall short in replay value, RPG elements don’t feel genuine, too many problems with the wanted system and the extra realistic features become too much of a chore.

The good: attention to detail, the relationships/interactions with people, how alive the world feels, the world itself, the story is also fine. The bad: too much realism that makes the game boring more often than is forgivable (I'm not allowing that shit just because of "immersion," it's a bad choice), unnecessary mechanics, small issues that aren't a problem in other games. The ugly: the fast travel system, one of the worst ever, adds to the bad. It's a great game, not a masterpiece.
