Mass Effect 2

The Mass Effect trilogy is my favorite game series of all time. Where Mass Effect 1 doesn't have a great combat system and Mass Effect 3 has some odd story choices, Mass Effect 2 suffers from neither issue. On top of that, it has the most epic final chapter any video game has ever had. The writing is excellent, both in terms of dialogue and in terms of the overall plot. I like to play as a female character, mostly because I like Jennifer Hale's performance as Commander Shepard so much.

A flawless space opera—where loyalty missions (Mordin’s genophage guilt! Thane’s prayers!) outshine the main plot. The suicide mission? Gaming’s best finale. Combat? Buttery smooth

the pinnacle of sci fi squad RPGs

the type of game where you really want to know what happens next

The Mass Effect series is among my favorites and this one ranks highest in my opinion. The storylines and characters are so fantastic, and needing to find a balance to be able to maximize all of the companions is a great part of the game.

Fantastic game! Improved a lot over the first game imo. Great cast of characters, a fantastic story, and choices seem to feel important. They also significantly improved the vehicle exploration of planets, as well as had a better overall balance of missions, although it did go a little long for my tastes. Music is also fantastic, with the end theme reminding me of one of my favorite songs from Doctor Who "I Am the Doctor"

There's a reason this game is the one with all the memes in this trilogy. Too bad it wrecked the main plot and that of the trilogy though.

The pinnacle of the series, it leans heavily into the choices-matter selling point and that really invests you. Some great characters.

Bioware's peak. They took an industrial grinder to the tedious ass first game and came out with something I want to play again and again.

Gameplay is good. Story is... alright.
