Internet autists implode over a lacklustre ending not knowing Andromeda was coming to get them

Mass Effect 3 is the black sheep of the ME trilogy. While it has the highest highs, it also contains the lowest lows. The gameplay is the best it's ever been (evidenced by the dozen or so hours I put into the multiplayer) but the story is inconsistent. There is a point in the story where the crunch catches up because the misses start racking up faster and faster. The controversy over the ending was a blessing in disguise because of how many other flaws it covered up.

Disappointing conclusion to the trilogy. "Your choices matter!" they told us. No. No they did not.

A bad final 20 minutes doesn't negate the terrific rest of the game. Sure the RPG elements are almost gone, but the best gameplay of the series makes up for it.

My favorite part about this game is how everyone else finally hated Mass Effect too.

While it definitely didn't meet the heights of ME2, it also didn't deserve the ridiculous amount of backlash from fans. Satisying end to one the best trilogies in gaming.

All the outrage in the world couldn't have prepared me for how bad this ending was gonna be. Amazing game leading up to it, though.

I just replayed this and finally finished it and I saw the EC ending and it was fine. I watched the original version and while not great, the backlash was a little excessive. Either way, this is a great game up until that point; it was more of the same as ME2, but for some reason people are harsher on the exact same gameplay. It was fluid, some good quests and characters, etc.

It's not QUITE as good as Mass Effect 2, but still pretty solid. My main issue is that it feels like the story doesn't naturally flow as well as Mass Effect 2 did, and more disorganized, so the amount of time it took to beat the game felt like it wasn't earned. My initial ending was the worst choice you can make, but I was able to quickly go back and replay for a better ending, which I liked much better.

It felt like an action sci-fi film trying to be Mass Effect (and maybe vice versa.) It lacked that something that ME2 had and tried to make up for it with overly melodramatic cutscenes and throwing player agency out the window in favor of their own convoluted and contrived story. But hey, good gunplay and DLC.

Amazing conclusion to my favourite series of that generation. Loved the emotions and the stakes, a near perfect game. I loved the ending, though I have my own interpretation which is similar to the indoctrination theory.

This is the beginning of outrage culture as we know it today. The spineless cowards at Bioware showed their true snowflake colors here, by kowtowing to the Twitter mob and changing their fucking ending of a game they worked on for 2 years. They had to change their story to appease a bunch of angry virgins who couldn't code a single page of html, let alone design a video game. Whether the "fans" were right or wrong is not the point. NEVER APOLOGIZE AND GIVE IN TO THE MOB. Andromeda is your reward

this had the best mechanics of the 3. but the story pacing wasnt that good. i usually felt like, wow the universe is at war and i'm kinda just fucking around. it did well with the returning characters. and it was nice with ME2 cameos. understandably hard to fit them in more when they might be dead in many players' states lol. the liara romance ended up underwhelming but still had great stuff. and i loved the story and ending cuz of many concepts.

They wrote themselves into a corner, for sure. Still pretty fun, though! Fun enough for multiple replays!

This is a good game but it's not a good Mass Effect game. Two hours or so in and so far 1) no real choices, 2) lots of linear corridor shooting, 3) action spectacle laden cut scenes where the only interactivity is in glorified cut scenes. I kept waiting for the game to let go of the leash so I could go where I wanted and do what I chose.

I don't actually like action movies, so maybe I made a mistake trying to engage with this so-called "RPG trilogy". But seriously, these things are basically movies with some cover shooting stapled on.

The best gameplay of the trilogy: they combined a good amount of costumization from the first, with the fact that every weapon it's different aestetically and also really change your gameplay, it's not just a different buff-debuff. The end was fine people, get over with it, it was even better before the EC that explain too much with no need. I don't get what people was expecting: 3000 different final scenes?

The final entry to one of the best video game trilogies of all time. Unfortunately, the story and writing fell a bit flat, despite still being a fun and technically impressive game.
