Two paddles, one ball... a deeply symbolic take on the human condition, only possible due to the sheer power of Atari, a company that is still around in 2049. (I mean, this is Pong, you know what this is).

No matter how good I get at tennis, I will never be as good as a wall.

this is like rating those movies from 1888 where a horse-drawn carriage crosses a bridge. revolutionary and endlessly entertaining for their time, providing countless of hours of entertainment for people who otherwise wished they were dead. nowadays, though, it's socially acceptable to jack off, and "masterpieces" like Pong and Roundway Garden Scene have little value as anything other than examples of the past's overwhelming shittyness

I don't really know what to rate this. I don't think it's a great game today, but I mean, it is Pong after all so it deserves respect. I would say everybody getting into games should play it just so you can see where we were at back then, but I have no desire to play it today.

an extra point for being a classic. but if you're actually playing this game in this day and age...what are you doing with your life?

A supremely straightforward game to pick up and play for a little bit. It was just the thing to introduce the general concept of video games to children and barflies around the world. To understand the full experience, it also helps to remember that it originally required two players (as the early Atari games generally did).

One of the earliest and simplistic games in gaming history. It's so simplistic that there's barely any depth to the game, but it's hard to be overly critical of it when this was one of the most complex video games that could be conceived at the time.

It's fucking Pong. This doesn't even deserve to be a mini-game in better games. Still, you can play it against a 6 year old, so there's that.

Pong ... one of the O.G.s of video games. Difficult to know how to score this as obviously it falls well short of modern gaming graphical and audio standards and the gameplay has zero depth. That said this is a game that could still be played by literally anybody of any age or experience in gaming and that has to be respected.
