an utterly misguided game that believes the only avenue to legitimacy for gaming as a medium is to cop a cinematic style. the result is a game with legitimately good dialogue, but stale gameplay, blatant padding and absurd narrative blunders. the praise for this stems from the desire for gaming to have its Citizen Kane, even though it has, and it has had many: they are just games, not interactive cutscenes made by 30-somethings who couldn\'t make it in Hollywood.

Video Games have had great narratives before this, but never before have the had the subtlety, maturity and subtext that this had, with the added bonus of almost no ludonarrative dissonance. That ending kicks you in the gut.

Hikayesi klişe olsa da karakterlerini çok seviyorum. Biraz abartılsa da kesinlikle kalitesine laf edilmez. Oynanışışnı çok öven yok ama hikayenin önüne geçiyor bence :D

One of the finest narrative video games ever made. The story is impeccable, save for one terrible line at a crucial moment ("well... I guess you can't escape your past"). The combat is super-satisfying. The "puzzle" sections, which are both terribly easy and slow to complete, are the only thing that keep this from full-on masterpiece status.

My favorite game so far. Not because it's particularly original or revolutionary, minor gameplay aspects are actually pretty flawed, even after heavy updates and a remaster. But it shines with unparalleled presentation, acting and direction, music(!!!), dedication to nuance, pacing and detail, slowly heightening the immersion into characters and world. It just keeps getting better. I mean, it is basically leon the professional with zombies, but doesn't that sound like a freakin' awesome game??!?

My favorite game of all time. Everything from the fantastic story, to the varied and challenging gameplay, to the perfect musical scoring adds up to GOAT. As enjoyable watching someone else play through the first time as it is when you're the one playing. One of very few games that I've enjoyed playing through again, and look forward to another go in the future. Can't wait for part II!

I remember this game. You're basically running away from the bad guys to preserve a lot of ammo as you can. Because that's what you do in these Survivor type Horror games. This has an amazing story. Game play is weak though. Another popular game.

The Last of Us is everything I love and hate about video games all in one. It's plot is a greatest-hits collection of every overplayed zombie trope imaginable but the characters, even though not perfect, are very strong. The gameplay is fairly plain for a stealth game but the production design is, at times, jaw-dropping. It has some tender moments and carries a decent tone but never really reaches above "interactive television show." A very good game but misses greatness.

I understand the profound impact of the story. I did feel something at the end. But it's just a movie, and as a movie it's probably not a good one. The gameplay is just there to jump you from cutscene to cutscene, and when the mushroom face guys show up I want to chop my head off. UPDATE: After watching the TV show, I can safely say this story is definitely better as a videogame, however I wish they made the gameplay enjoyable.

Pretty well done post apocalyptic zombie fare. Some of the ladder tasks get a little repetitive but nothing that truly takes away.

Usually not a huge fan of these linear cinematic action extravaganzas, but this one stands out from the pack by actually delivering a worthwhile cinematic experience.

Here are what prevents this game from being PERFECT: Bad gun play, occasional bugs and more importantly the face that it becomes repetitive between fresh events that are spread across the game.

Again, Naughty Dog knocks it out of the park with their visuals and storytelling. In the case of The Last of Us, the gameplay is actually compelling, unlike some of their other titles such as Uncharted. Some legitimately tense segments and heartbreaking moments make The Last of Us one of the standout titles of the decade.

If every game was like this it would be a problem but they aren't, so the cinematic nature of it is endearing here. It has awesome writing that takes a story we've seen before and fills it with genuine heart and dialogue that feels natural. The gameplay loop was actually enticing to me because I liked scavenging for materials; made me feel like I was a part of this world. Excellent music, a heart-wrenching ending. This is the best thing Naughty Dog has done as of writing this.

So good. My favorite video game version of the apocalypse which is a real soft spot for me. Some of the best voice acting, writing, and music to found in gaming.

I'm bad at this game because I impatient idiot but the story and character work are very moving and it's really legitimately tense.

I feel like this game is unfairly viewed as not having worthwhile gameplay because of how heavily it uses story cutscenes. I would argue that while the \"puzzles\" (read: pallets) are idiotic, the gameplay is just right for this game. Combat is appropriately weighty and brutal for the tone, it\'s just clunky enough to reflect the sort of desperate survival theme it\'s going for, and when I play a lot of other stealth games I REALLY miss how enemies will actually lose track of you here.
