It's a'ight. The main character is rather bland and the inter-tribe political gobbledygook is uninspiring, but the graphics are gorgeous and it's fun taking down the robot animals.

When you get to the bottom of the barrel for game ideas you find a game where you hunt robots like they're wild animals and it's great.

I was in a slump before Horizon Zero Dawn. But I enjoyed every second I had with it and intentionally platinumed it so that I could say I was done. When the DLC pack goes down to a decent price, I’ll happily return. Overall, though, sometimes my memories of experiencing a game are sweeter than actually playing the game itself. Horizon Zero Dawn got me back on a horse that I’d been missing but felt little compulsion to return to, and for that I’ll always be grateful to Guerilla Games.

I'm not as hot on this as most people seem to be. The world is gorgeous, exploring it was enticing, and the fights against the bigger robot dinosaurs were a ton of fun. Fighting the smaller, horde robots got tired three or four robots in, and combat with human enemies sucks around the block. The story is far more simplistic and cookie-cutter than people want to admit. The performance for Aloy is good, but the rest of the voice cast sounds kind of phoned in.

Talking with CYAN was the most interesting conversation in this game, a lot of the characters are dull, but the combat kept me engaged, and the quest to rediscover the future past - what Faro did made me mad. The Cauldrons are the worst thing in the game, the long ones at least and it's a shame you can't have a war party of overridden machines, since they don't follow you and can't be used in a lot of quests that happen in areas that have no overrideable machines.

This doesn't do a lot new but it takes aspects from a variety of other open-world games and does most of it really well. Obviously the standout is fighting the robot dinosaurs, which never gets boring, but Aloy is a good character, the visuals are gorgeous, the world is vibrant. I think that there's a good story here but they're not always the best at telling it. There's a part later on where shit gets serious and it's kind of just an info dump. But still an awesome game.

I can see the effort, but the game just bores me.

A rip off of the Witcher 3, but like most copies, a poor facsimile. The dialogue in the game is horrible. The basic premise that humanity has descended into a primitive lifestyle is interesting, but this story is delivered in a confusing and haphazard way. And worst of all, the game mechanics are not well done. It doesn't feel like you have good control over your character during fights, and the enemies often jump past you so you can't tell where they are. Not good.

While I found the story lame, the gameplay and the world was topnotch.

I liked the setting and the premise, and visually it's impressive. Combat could get frustrating at points, but part of that may have been my own fault for ending up tackling every encounter in basically the same manner.

Something about Horizon just didn't click with me in any way. Maybe it's the plain gameplay, the automaton-like character animations, or the reuse of just about every overused open-world design choice. It is a beautiful game as a technical achievement, in its artistic execution, and there is something to the lore that intrigued me. I just thought it never came together in any meaningful way and the things that don't work miss the mark badly.

I'll admit that everything is there on paper, it just didn't work for me. None of it. Sorry?

I absolutely loved the experience of playing this and Aloy has become one of my favorite characters ever. The story is brilliant, fleshed out well by little details scattered all over the world, but enough left unknown to keep things feeling mystical. There were times that the facial animation was a little rigid and distracting during conversations, but that's probably my only complaint. I put in 70 hours over 4 months. I would love to see a life-action adaptation done in Game of Thrones style.

This is a pretty good game actually. It can be repetitive always fighting robotic dinosaurs to level your guy up in this. Story was good. Don't bother getting every camp fire in this as the fast travel is the worst that I have seen. One of the better PS4 exclusives. This game is at least 25 hours and possibly a lot more depending what you do and the setting you play in this game.

I think I might have preemptively spoiled the well for myself on this one by playing Spider-Man and Breath of the Wild first - the verticality of those games made NOT being able to instantly climb up every cliff here infuriating. Also got kind of annoyed by the crafting. Beautiful game with an impressive world and nice combat and lore and all that besides that, but I fizzled out before hitting the end credits.

loved it in the beginning. human enemies made it worse. then started doing too much of the side shit like collectibles and that ruined the game. combat difficulty was also too restricting for me. that got better when i switched to easy. the frequently bad and often out of sync facial animations were annoying. UI felt overwhelming at times. dlc added stuff i wish i had the whole game like autoheal, those 3 weapons. and it woulda been nice having call mount earlier etc NG+ woulda been an 80 lol

Best game I've ever played. Awesome RPG elements combined with a Mind Blowing Stroy and Great side quests. Definitely a MUST PLAY.

One of the best cases of world-building done in a video game, complete with an expertly paced story and interesting characters. Horizon: ZD is easily one of the best original Playstation titles to be released, and a must-play. Enemy design is probably it's greatest strength, even though the combat could be a bit frustrating at times.

The combat is pretty enjoyable; I'd love fighting robots a whole lot more if it wasn't in a bloated open world. Still, it's less egregious than most. The whole open world full of junk to stumble over and lists to complete genre just isn't for me.
