Kid in my class when this came out copied out word for word all of the dialogue from characters and added a "Link nodded" here and there for a creative writing assignment and CRIED LIKE A BITCH when called out on it.

There are currently two eras in gaming: those before Ocarina of Time, and those after Ocarina of Time. It's like the possibilities of video games opened up just as this Link stepped onto Hyrule Field. All the better is the way the story, surprisingly lush with spiritual resonances, simply inspires - imagination, adventure, growth. Even those flaming bats can't diminish what is a landmark experience.

The foremost adventure game of our time. I can't add anything to conversation that hasn't been said dozens of times before. I don't use the word masterpiece lightly but this is more than deserving.

If it were possible to give something higher than 100, this would be it. Ocarina of Time is the one. The one game I would say keep if you could only play one more game for the rest of your life. The world is big and full. The story is satisfying enough and the game play is to the highest standard possible. If nothing else, Ocarina is one of the greatest games ever released.

There's a simple streamlined beauty to the worldbuilding and storytelling in this game - less novelistic, more mythological - mixed with deep gameplay and huge sprawling dungeons that somehow manage to enchant and intrigue more than they ever confuse. Certainly among the games I've ever been most deeply entranced by upon initial release, and I wouldn't argue with anyone who calls it the best Zelda game.

It took nineteen years for a game to be as good at this and even then it was by the same dudes

I played the 3DS remake, and am scoring this version based off that.

I remember playing this for the first time and honestly played it for like 2-3 hours. These games are really annoying with the no radar meter and just taking about 1 hour to go from point A to point B. I get these games are exploration but I don't want to keep memorizing where to get more powerful armor etc. Camera angles are really bad. It's just a game where they focused more on where to go more than anything and more of the get to a point A to B point.

At the time of its release, Ocarina of Time might have been the first true epic game to hit mainstream. Its scope seemed unreal, its characters a treasure trove of personalities and quests, and its gameplay the blueprint for every 3D adventure game to follow.

A benchmark title for 3D action adventure games everywhere. There's a reason the Ocarina songs are still stuck in my head.

OoT set the bar for 3D action-adventure games. While the world of Hyrule is not as loaded with life and detail as future Zelda titles, Ocarina of Time is an unforgettable adventure that invented the near-perfect adventure RPG format that Zelda games would follow for years to come and many adventure games would attempt to emulate.

One of the most revolutionary games of its time. It's still rough in some areas but you won't find a smoother transition from 2D to 3D. Also holds up amazingly well.

So much happening in this game! This was the first video game that we talked about in the locker room. This was the first video game that I ever used the internet to help me figure out how to beat something. This is the Zelda game that all other Zelda entries are measured against. And it can easily be played, and enjoyed, today, by the younger generation of gamers. This was one of the reasons to go N64 over Playstation.

The reverence for this game as the "greatest of all time" is baffling to me. Mechanically the movement and combat options are limited, often forcing a lot of waiting to get past certain enemies with one-dimensional defensive options made worse by stiff, rigid movement. The dungeons aren't absolutely terrible, but the puzzle to puzzle structure is often dull when the puzzles are this simplistic. The plot is also bad - everything is flat, tone-deaf, inconsistent, and emotionless.

That's right, I don't like this game! There are only a couple Zelda games that I kinda like (and one I love) and this isn't it. I have no real good reason for this, I guess I just don't jive with the series. The long ass dungeons don't do it for me.

I spent more time playing Mario Kart 64 & Goldeneye with friends, but this is the definitive N64 game - moreso than Mario 64. The open world design was at the time incredible, and the use of music and melodies was also impressive. And while playing BOTW twenty years later is on the whole more fun, OoT still (at least in my nostalgic mind) beats it in terms of dungeon design and Ganon's villainy.

It was great for its time I know, but I find it so awkward to play now. I respect the game, but on a measure of my enjoyment I can't actually place it that high.

having not played this upon its release, you'll have to forgive me for not showing it the reverence which it is owed. it's a fun game, but it's largely just Link to the Past in 3D, with a number of its faults brought to the forefront due to that extra dimension (the inventory system, z-targeting, etc).

My deserted island game. Besides a minor gripe about how annoying that Water Temple was, this is a simply put a absolutely perfect game. There is nothing anyone could have done at its time of its release to improve on it anymore. It's a shining example of the whole being greater than sum of its (already great) parts, and it perfection is so beautiful I sometimes cry when I think about it.
